Transforming Scotland Research Study: Invitation to Tender

Invitation to Tender

Maclellan Foundation Scotland is inviting proposals to undertake a national research study exploring the current landscape of workplace ministry across Scotland and identifying strategic opportunities for future investment.

This study forms an important part of our wider Transforming Scotland strategy. Its purpose is to help shape the Foundation’s funding priorities over the next five to ten years, ensuring that our resources are directed where they can most effectively support the integration of Christian faith within working life.

Purpose of the Research

The commissioned research will provide a clear, evidence-based picture of how Christians are currently supported in workplaces across Scotland, where gaps exist, and how future initiatives might strengthen leadership, witness, and community in professional contexts.

Scope of the Study

The research is expected to:

  • Review existing literature and relevant studies already undertaken in this field.

  • Engage a broad and representative cross-section of participants across Scotland.

  • Use a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews and surveys.

  • Reflect diversity in geography, sector, career stage, age, and gender.

  • Examine levels of awareness, access to networks, and forms of support currently available to Christians in different industries.

  • Identify how leaders might be better equipped through mentoring, resourcing, collaboration, or funding initiatives.

Expected Outputs

The appointed researcher or organisation will deliver:

  1. A comprehensive research report including data, analysis, and strategic insights to inform Maclellan Foundation Scotland’s decision-making.

  2. A second, publishable version suitable for wider circulation, with any sensitive material appropriately removed.

Timing

The study is anticipated to run from May to July 2026, with final findings delivered by August 2026 to inform subsequent strategic funding decisions.

Invitation to Tender

We welcome proposals from suitably qualified researchers, organisations, or partnerships with experience in faith-related research, workplace culture, leadership development, or applied social research.
